Sometimes, we all need a break from life’s demands to know we’re on the right track or to find the courage to make changes. I had a life changing retreat at Rancho La Puerta eight years ago, when I realized I was more excited to tell fellow spa-goers about my Pilates training than my ‘important’ publishing job. I quit the day I returned home.

Rates start at $2395 (with sign up by Oct 1st) and include:

  • Two 90 minute classes each day
  • Six nights accommodations at Villa Amor, in a stunning open-aired oceanfront villa (see photos this page—all are from this year’s retreat)
  • Daily maid service
  • Daily breakfast and three group dinners at Villa Amor and local restaurants
  • A one hour massage
  • A day trip to Punta Mita for surfing or snorkeling (lunch included)
  • Roundtrip airport transfers from Puerto Vallarta International Airport

My husband Jack and I took surfing lessons in Bali on our honeymoon and loved it so much I decided I want everyone who’s ever dreamed of riding a wave to get out and do it. I found surf lessons invaluable because I felt safe and I had a group to share the exhilaration with. And Pilates just happens to be a fantastic workout for building balance, grace and core power.

Class description…
Pilates class welcomes all levels! Surf lessons are aimed at beginners but more advanced surfers will fall in love with the world class waves in Sayulita. This is a retreat so it’s your choice to do as much or as little as you like. If your spouse or friends want to join but don’t wish to surf, discounts for non-surfers are available.

It’s my goal that what you gain doing Pilates translates to your everyday life. Morning sessions will fire up your center and give you the courage to hop on a surfboard and have a blast your first time out. After fun in the sun, surf lessons and relaxing, your day ends with a meditative stretch session that promises to soothe the psyche and lengthen sore muscles.
